An eventful week. Warning.. May be hard to read.

Warning... this may be a hard post to read for some. This has been an eventful week. It began with bad news on Monday and an emergency on Wednesday. What kind an emergency you ask? A serious one. The kind where time is of the essence. On Wednesday our world stopped and we had to leave and go to a Rangers Baseball game. I know it doesn’t sound like much of an emergency at first, so I’ll need to give you a little background.
A close friend of ours has been having some vision and balance issues for the last few weeks. The symptoms had been increasing and his health has been declining. Long story short, he went to the doctor on Monday and found out that he had inoperable brain cancer. They told him that he probably has a few weeks to live... maybe a couple of months. Let that sit on your mind for a minute. 45 years old and a few weeks to live. A hard pill to swallow.
On Tuesday I visited him and he said that he wanted to go see one last Texas Rangers game. I told him to pick a game next week and we would make it happen. The team was about to leave on a road trip and would be back in town the next week.
Fast forward to the next day.... Wednesday..... his wife texts us in the morning and said he had fallen and needed help up. I ran down the street and helped him up and got him to sit in a wheelchair. No major damage, maybe his ego was bruised a bit.
I walked back home.... then after a few minutes... Angie and I realized... he may not be able to go to a game next week. I walked back down to his house and said, “There is a Rangers day game today at 1 PM.. I'm not sure what you have planned but cancel it.. be ready to head out in a couple of hours.”
Around noon we all loaded in the car and cued up a baseball playlist. John Fogerty's Centerfield started playing and we headed out. A quick trip to the stadium and we were enjoying the game with a dollar dog in hand.
It was a wonderful day to see a game. I’m not sure that I’ve tasted a hot dog so delicious, a beer so fresh, heard the crack of the bat so clearly, or ever enjoyed Ranger Win so much. There was nothing more important that day than baseball and friends. ........ Nothing......... #HelloWinColumn
I hope everyone takes care and enjoys family and friends this Easter weekend. Maybe take the ball out back and play some catch if you feel the urge.
Thanks, K
